Privacy Policy

Konfidence is operated by Innovationera Pty Ltd (Australia). This policy explains what the product collects, why, who else sees it, and how to get rid of it.

It is written to be read. If anything here is unclear, that is a fault worth reporting, and the address at the bottom reaches a person.

The short version

  • Your recording is never stored. It is sent to be turned into text, and then it is gone.
  • What is kept is the text of what you said, the timings of the words, a few measurements taken from them, and the one instruction you were given.
  • There is no camera, no face or expression analysis, and no score out of anything.
  • There is no advertising, no tracking pixels and no analytics scripts.
  • Your practice is not used to train anybody's model.
  • Your Toastmasters club cannot see your practice. Nobody at your club sees any of this.
  • You can delete everything from your account page, and it is actually deleted.

What is collected

Practice, whether or not you have an account:

  • The text of what you said, produced by transcribing your recording.
  • Word-level timings from that transcription, which is how pace and hesitation are measured.
  • Measurements computed from the text and timings, such as how long it took you to say something concrete.
  • The question you were asked, and the single instruction you were given afterwards.
  • A random identifier stored in your browser, so a practice can be joined to the one before it.

If you make an account, additionally:

  • Your email address and display name, from whichever sign-in you chose.
  • An identifier from that sign-in provider.
  • The version of these terms you accepted, when you accepted them, and that you confirmed your age.
  • An opaque reference to your Toastmasters club, if you arrived through one. It is a meaningless string to us and carries no name, email or membership detail.

Standard server logs are produced by our hosting provider, including IP address and browser type, and are used to keep the service running and to tell people apart from automated crawlers.

Your recording

This is the part most people want to know about, so it is its own section.

When you speak, the audio is sent to OpenAI, transcribed, and the audio is discarded. It is never written to our database, never written to a file, and never kept in any form after the transcript exists. There is no recording of you to leak, subpoena or sell.

The transcript does persist, and a transcript of you speaking about your own life can be personal. Treat it that way: say what you would be comfortable having stored as text, and delete your account when you want it gone.

Why

  • To transcribe what you said and produce the one thing to change, which is the product.
  • To compare a second attempt with the first, which is the only comparison made anywhere.
  • To count practices against your monthly allowance.
  • To keep the service working, prevent abuse, and tell people apart from crawlers.
  • To meet legal obligations where they apply.

Where the UK or EU law applies to you, the basis for the above is performance of a contract with you for the parts that deliver the product, and legitimate interests for keeping it running and preventing abuse.

Who else sees it

Four companies process data on our behalf. Nobody else receives it, and none of it is sold.

  • OpenAI — transcribes your recording and phrases the coaching instruction. Under their API terms, content sent this way is not used to train their models.
  • Google, through Firebase Authentication — verifies your sign-in. They see your email address; they do not see your practice.
  • Vercel — hosts the site and produces the server logs.
  • Neon — hosts the database, in the United States (Ohio).

Data is processed in Australia and the United States. If you are in the UK or EU, transfers rely on standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision as applicable.

Your club sees nothing

If you arrived from a link in Toastmanager, your club administration passed us an opaque reference so your practices could be counted against the right allowance. That reference is not a name, an email, or anything we can resolve back to you.

There is no club dashboard, no leaderboard, and no report. Nobody in your club can see whether you practised, what you were asked, or what you said. If that ever changes it will be opt-in and this policy will say so first.

Cookies

There are no advertising or analytics cookies, and nothing that follows you to other sites.

  • An anonymous identifier, so practice works before you sign in and your history is not lost when you do.
  • A signed club pass, if you arrived from Toastmanager.
  • A sign-in session, if you have an account.

All three are strictly necessary for the product to work, which is why you are not asked to consent to them.

How long it is kept

Practice data is kept while your account exists. Anonymous practice, made without an account, is kept indefinitely unless you ask for it to be removed, because there is no identity attached to expire.

Deleting your account removes your account record, your practices, transcripts, word timings, measurements and coaching history. Server logs held by our hosting provider expire on their own schedule.

Deleting everything

Sign in, open your account page, and choose "Delete everything". It happens immediately and it is not recoverable. If you would rather ask a person, write to info@konfidence.ai.

If you practised anonymously and never made an account, write to us with a rough time and we will find and remove it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port your information, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent.

Write to info@konfidence.ai and we aim to respond within 30 days.

You can also complain to a regulator: the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au) in Australia, the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) in the UK, or your local data protection authority in the EU.

Age

Konfidence is for adults. You must be 18 or over to practise or to make an account, and you are asked to confirm this when you sign in.

We do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under that age has used it, write to info@konfidence.ai and it will be deleted.

Security

Everything travels over HTTPS. Access to the database is restricted. Sign-in is handled by Google rather than by us, so there is no password here to steal.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach occurs that is likely to put your rights at risk, you and the relevant regulator will be told, as the law requires.

Changes

This policy will change as the product does. The date at the top moves when it does, and a material change is notified at your next sign-in rather than slipped in quietly.
